UrbanByNature Webinar: nature-based solutions in European and Brazilian contexts

Lifting the barriers to urban nature development

23 April 2019, 15:00 - 16:30

UrbanByNature, the Global Programme for Urban Nature Pioneers, will kick off its Brazilian cities series with a webinar featuring European and Brazilian participants on 23 April at 15:00-16:30 CEST (10:00-11:00 BRT). This introductory webinar will present a new facilitated capacity-building and expertise-sharing programme to help lift the barriers to urban nature development, and set participating cities and towns on a new green course.

Participants will learn what nature-based solutions actually are in both European and Brazilian contexts, about the integrated planning approach of the programme aligned with international ISO standards, as well as about how to build the capacity of local government staff towards implementing nature-based solutions step-by-step.

Webinar speakers will represent the European Commission, the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Trinity College Dublin, the City of Genk (Belgium), the City of Curitiba (Brazil), among others. The discussion will be moderated by Alice Reil and Daniela Rizzi (ICLEI Europe), and Sophia Picarelli (ICLEI South America).

The Brazilian webinar launches the expansion of the UrbanByNature programme to other regional hubs, including the Caucasus, China and Korea.
