25th Breakfast at Sustainability's

Lowering energy use in family homes - the FIESTA approach

5 September 2017
Brussels, Belgium- Avenue de Tervuren 35

The 25th edition of ICLEI's long-running Breakfast at Sustainability's series was held on Tuesday 5 September, focusing on the work of the EU-funded FIESTA project. ICLEI hosted the event in association with project coordinator AREA Science Park Trieste.

FIESTA helps families with children to save money and lower their carbon footprint by reducing the amount of energy they consume. It aims to achieve this by teaching families to make better energy choices, such as purchasing higher rated electrical appliances, choosing efficient cooking methods, and optimising natural light in homes.

The workshop saw discussion and debate on the best methods to encourage the adoption of energy efficient behaviour. Project partners from the municipalities of Logrono and Pamplona (Spain), and Pazardjik (Bulgaria) shared their experiences from participating in FIESTA, outlining what worked in their local context in terms of reaching citizens.
