Can urban green infrastructure solve it all? A conversation with leading researchers

21 June 2017, 18:00 - 21:00

The GREEN SURGE project invites you to an online conversation with two leading researchers in the field of urban green infrastructure on 21 June from 6.00 - 6.45pm (CET) / 9.00 to 9:45am (PDT).

Prof. Dr. Cecil Konijnendijk van den Bosch, Professor for Urban Ecology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (Canada) and Prof. Dr. Stephan Pauleit, Chair for Strategic Landscape Planning and Management, Technical University of Munich (Germany), will share observations on the current academic discourse on green infrastructure in North America and Europe. They will discuss the opportunities of urban green for cities as well as its pitfalls – and where and how research can support cities to avert them.

As former and current Scientific Coordinators of GREEN SURGE, Cecil and Stephan have been looking into cities’ approaches to green infrastructure development for many years. Both will be keynote speakers at the GREEN SURGE Final Conference “Connecting People and Nature for Sustainable Cities” taking place from 20-21 September 2017 in Malmö (Sweden).

This webinar is the first of a series of GREEN SURGE webinars reflecting on cities’ and researchers’ views on urban green infrastructure while making a link to the programme of the project’s final conference in Malmö.
