Optimised local thermal network planning workshop

CELSIUS Summit 2019 - THERMOS European Inspire Event

18 October 2019, 10:45 - 12:30
Brussels, Belgium- BIP Brussels, Rue Royale 2-4

On 18 October 2019, THERMOS will inspire optimised local thermal network planning at the CELSIUS Summit taking place from 17-18 October 2019 in Brussels (Belgium).

Building on state-of-the-art thermal energy mapping and modelling practices, the last THERMOS European Inspire workshop aims to accelerate the setup or the modernisation and expansion of district heating and cooling networks across Europe.

The hands-on workshop is invites participants to explore the THERMOS open-source energy planning software for their own context and projects. THERMOS pilot city Islington (United Kingdom) and the Polish National Energy Conservation Agency (KAPE) will guide participants in their first steps in using the software and introduce some of their most exemplary district heating and cooling projects.

Questions to be tackled include:

  • How does the THERMOS energy planning software operate and what are its benefits for local energy planning
  • When and how to apply THERMOS and its features, including energy system mapping and modelling optimisation methods
  • How are THERMOS pilot and replication cities using it in developing their case studies
  • How to integrate results of the THERMOS software in urban planning processes

ICLEI Europe will moderate the session.

Participants are invited to bring their laptops to explore the software first hand.
