CIVITAS FORUM Conference

‘Small communities, big ideas’

27 - 29 September 2017
Torres Vedras, Portugal

The European Conference on cleaner, better transport in cities, the CIVITAS FORUM, will take place on 27-29 September 2017 in Torres Vedras (Portugal). The forum, held as part of the CIVITAS (City VITAlity and Sustainability) initiative, is a key event for transport practitioners, policy makers, and academics from across Europe.

The theme for the 15th edition of the conference is ‘small communities, big ideas’. Participants will explore key issues and highlight developments in mobility measures and planning, especially in small communities. Participants will also have the chance to exchange ideas and share experiences to help others tackle existing urban mobility problems.

The smallest municipality ever to host a CIVITAS Forum Conference, Torres Vedras is one of Portugal’s leading examples in sustainable urban development. Participants will have the opportunity to find out more about the city's initiatives, as well as from others across Europe, through state-of-the-art presentations, interactive workshops and sessions, and site visits.

The CIVITAS Forum will introduce an innovative element of the programme called 'the CIVITAS Deployment Day', which will connect owners of new methods and tools to users and potential users, facilitating the building of relations and potential partnerships.
