The European Green Deal sets out ambitious goals for plastic packaging products in EU, including having all products on the market be reusable or recyclable by 2030.

Ambitions of such magnitude require innovation; luckily we are not starting from scratch. European projects funded under the Horizon 2020 programme, such as CIRC-PACK, have worked over the past three years to develop the innovations needed to make plastic packaging waste more circular. The solutions in CIRC-PACK cover:

• Plastics from renewable sources
• Eco-friendly packaging design
• Enhanced sorting and recycling

The project will host its final event as a webinar. It will share key insights and engage with policy makers, city representatives and technical experts on how best to make bio-based and recyclable plastics the norm in the plastics industry.
