Upscaling: different methodologies to scale up NBS and transfer them to other cities

In the next edition of the UrbanByNature webinar series, participants will explore "STEP 7 | UPSCALE" of the programme's integrated management approach.

The webinar will feature input from city representatives and experts, who will explore creative approaches for implementing and scaling-up nature-based solutions (NBS). It will zoom in on capturing local knowledge and supporting co-creative planning processes with respect to NBS. Speaker will also share their experiences and the outcomes of testing of new methods to facilitate the design of NBS.

The webinar will be moderated by Daniela Rizzi (ICLEI Europe) and Sophia Picarelli (ICLEI South America).

The webinar will delve into the following topics:

  • Using memory work, eco-therapy, immersion in nature, and body-mapping to establish new co-creation methodologies to better understand the story of nature in cities
  • Applying this process to the development of NBS in Sarajevo
  • Reflecting on how this methodology helps better understand the role of nature, the power of connection and story-making, and contributes to replicability of NBS in cities.
  • Applying the geodesign method in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) as a participatory decision-making tool, and discussing its replication potential.
  • Reflecting on the achievements of the Brazilian Connecting Nature hub so far, and on the way forward.
