Green Week Partner Event: Building resilience to climate change: Developing regional-urban approaches

23 May 2018, 14:00 - 17:00
Brussels, Belgium- House of Dutch Provinces, Trierstraat 59 – 61 rue de Trèves

Adapting to climate change is a major challenge that cuts across sectors and levels of government: from transnational to regional and local. Cities and regions must work together if they are to develop effective strategies to address their local vulnerabilities and boost resilience.

This half-day seminar focuses on introducing and sharing transferable best practices and scalable approaches on how cities and regions can work together to develop policies and actions to address risks, create resilient infrastructures, and foster a better quality of life for their communities. Among others, this event will address the following questions:

- How can cities and regions work together to manage climate-related risks, foster resilience and ultimately boost local sustainable development?

- What are the roles and competences of different players at the local, regional, national and EU level. How can engagement of communities be ensured?

- What are the gaps (e.g. legislative and financial) in the implementation of resilient infrastructures?

The meeting will be held in English.
