34th Breakfast at Sustainability's

Making Farm to Fork strategies work

21 October 2020, 11:30 - 13:00

What synergies are possible between the Farm to Fork Strategy and the FAO Framework for the Urban Food Agenda?

What opportunities for short food supply chains do they offer?

What role is there for regional and local actors who want to be change makers for more sustainable and resilient food systems?

This special edition of the consolidated ICLEI Breakfast at Sustainability series builds on the successful session of last year, which was on sustainable food procurement as a means of localising all sustainable development goals (SDGs).

With regionality being the new sustainability in the wake of COVID-19, this time the debate will also be on how sustainable (public) food demand can be matched with the Farm to Fork Strategy and with citizens and farmers' expectations on short and alternative food supply chains, regional and local content capturing as well as new governance and resilience approaches.

The session is organised by ICLEI - Local Government for Sustainability in partnership with the Committee of the Region's Commission for Natural Resources, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

This online session will be held during the European Week of Regions and Cities 2020.
