Cities invited to share their views on turning wastewater utilities into nutrient factories at IFAT

More and more innovative technologies are becoming available, which allow wastewater treatment plants to be turned into water resource recovery facilities. In addition to their traditional function, wastewater utilities can nowadays also produce energy in the form of biogas and feedstock for bio-plastics or recover nutrients such as nitrogen or phosphorus.

ICLEI is at the forefront of this kind of research and technological development through the INCOVER project, a project supported by the European Commission’s Horizon2020 Programme.

The project explores “Innovative Eco-Technologies for Resource Recovery from Wastewater” and is led by AIMEN, a renowned Technology Centre located in Spain.

Juan Almarez from AIMEN will present the key ingredients of the INCOVER research at IFAT, the World’s Leading Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management, in Munich (Germany), 14-18 May.

Almarez will speak at a Stakeholder Engagement Event, 17 May, organised by the Run4Life project.

All registered participants will receive a free day-ticket voucher allowing access to some of the other IFAT events on 17 May.
