Starting 2 October 2025, ICLEI Europe will co-host a series of short online coffee talks exploring how community-based social experiments can inform, challenge, and strengthen the implementation of the European Green Deal.
Over five weeks, leading Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) researchers will share insights from 24 local experiments across Europe, including in ICLEI Member Cities Amaroussion (Greece), Braga (Portugal), Zaragoza (Spain), Stockholm (Sweden), and Nicosia (Cyprus). Each 30-minute session (Thursdays, 10:00–10:30 CEST) will also be paired with a newly released analytical report, offering evidence and recommendations for local governments, NGOs, practitioners, communities, and policymakers.
Upcoming sessions:
- 2 Oct: How can an intersectional approach inform the EU Green Deal?
- 9 Oct: Experiments in inclusion for a just Green Deal
- 16 Oct: Governing the European Green Deal: how local experiments can help
- 23 Oct: The world in transition: rethinking societal challenges
- 30 Oct: From grassroot to mainstream: Navigating Geographical Challenges in Scaling
Why join?
The coffee talks provide an opportunity for practitioners and decision-makers to draw on SSH insights to strengthen local Green Deal implementation. They also pave the way for the ‘Shared Green Societies’ Forum, launching in Brussels on 28 January 2026, which will bring together evidence, practice, and policy to foster cross-sectoral collaboration.
Mark your calendars, grab a coffee, and join the discussion on how local action and social innovation can shape Europe’s green transition.
