CoR to host seminar on nurturing nature for sustainable cities and regions

The European Committee of the Regions and DG Research and Innovation will host a joint thematic seminar on nurturing nature for sustainable cities and regions, set to take place in Brussels (Belgium) at the European Committee of the Regions from 09:30 to 17:00.

The seminar, titled “Implementing the Nature Directives in cities and regions: Nature-Based Solutions for key urban challenges”, seeks to explore innovative solutions that address urban and regional challenges like flood protection, wellbeing and health, and the protection of our natural capital, within the context of implementing the Nature Directives.

The thematic seminar aims to raise awareness and foster exchange of information and best practice between the European Commission and the EU regions as well as among the regions themselves.

A mix of high-level speakers, ranging from policy specialists of the European Commission and CoR members to practitioners, are included in the conference programme. The keynote speech will be delivered by Karl-Heinz Lambertz, CoR President. Holger Robrecht, Deputy Director of ICLEI Europe, will moderate a session focusing on the benefits of nature based solutions to people.
