European cities invited to participate in survey on zero emission transport systems

For many regions and cities in Europe, reducing air pollution in urban areas is at the core of their agenda. Therefore, many have set ambitious targets to convert their local transport systems, one of the largest sources of fossil fuel use and harmful emissions, to zero emission technologies.

Currently however, there is no comprehensive market survey for zero emission mobility available in Europe. In an attempt to fill this void, Roland Berger is conducting a survey among cities and regions across Europe to quantify and qualify the demand for zero emission transport today and in the coming years.

The survey, which will provide first-hand data on current as well as planned zero emission transportation initiatives across Europe, will allow the European Union (EU) to tailor funding programmes in terms of size and topic to meet the needs of European cities' and regions'.

Additionally, the survey will provide enhanced market guidance for manufacturers, enabling them to better understand the demand and, thus, to accelerate product development, scale up production and reduce costs.

The survey should also provide a better understanding of deployment plans for zero emission technologies in the coming years, enabling manufacturers to take into account these plans in their manufacturing schedules.
