German Sustainability Award nominees are revealed

The final nominees for the prestigious German Sustainability Award have been announced. This award, established in 2008, recognise excellence in sustainability, rewarding the achievements of cities and municipalities, businesses and researchers.

ICLEI Members have been prominent among past winners. Overall, 57 percent of past winners in the “large city” category are ICLEI Members, as well as all of last year’s large city finalists: Heidelberg, Mannheim, and Münster (that ultimately won).

ICLEI Europe is sitting on this year’s independent expert jury for the prize.

This year's nominated cities and towns are as follows. In the large city category: City of Erlangen, City of Osnabrück, and City of Stuttgart. Among medium-sized cities, the nominees are: City of Aschaffenburg, City Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, and City of St. Ingbert. In the small town and community category, City of Bad Berleburg, Dornstadt, and Community Wildpoldsried have been nominated. And, the nominees for the special digitisation prize are: City of Bad Berleburg, City of Heilbronn, City Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, City of Ulm, City of Waiblingen.
