The CIVITAS Initiative – coordinated by ICLEI Europe and working to make sustainable and smart urban mobility a reality for all – has re-launched its call seeking Champion Cities for its Replication and Deployment Programme, with an extended deadline of 16 January 2024.

Between 2023 and 2027, CIVITAS is selecting a total of 12 Challenge Cities and 24 Champion Cities to participate in the programme, which will entail various take-up and transfer activities such as twinning sessions, co-creation workshops and site visits. As a result of the CIVITAS Replication and Deployment programme, the 12 Challenge cities will develop a Deployment Plan each to address the challenge they originally identified.

Cities that have been involved in CIVITAS projects are encouraged to apply and use the programme to enhance their projects’ exploitation activities. Selected based on the best practices they would be willing to share, this is an opportunity for the Champion Cities to share learnings from projects they have been involved in, receive financial support to share knowledge with a Challenge Cities and get featured on the CIVITAS website and European media outlets through a dedicated article.

CIVITAS is an initiative designed to support cities in gaining better access to innovative solutions and to address transport challenges by applying exchange mechanisms for transfer and take-up.
