Financing opportunity for youth-led projects in transition regions across the EU

Young people will soon have the opportunity to apply for up to €10,000 in funding to organise local projects and contribute to a just and inclusive transition to a climate neutral economy. In September 2022, a call for projects will be launched as a part of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) initiative “EUTeens4Green – A new generation of youth ambassadors for an inclusive green transition”.

Youth proposed projects should aim to raise awareness about the social consequences of sustainable transitions and increase participation of people most affected - both in their professional and private life - in co-defining local action.

A project is eligible for funding from the EUTeens4Green if it:

  • takes place in a just transition region - check out the map here
  • includes young people in the age of 15-24 as its main organisers and participants
  • requests a maximum refund of €10.000 per project
  • is about the transition from fossil fuels and its social consequences, with total freedom when it comes to topics and formats

Interested in submitting a project? Start brainstorming now so that you can submit an interesting proposal in September! For more information, read on here.

The EUTeens4Green is managed by Startup Europe Regions Network, Youth and Environment Europe, CEE Bankwatch Network with the support of Generation Climate Europe, and created in the context of the European Year of Youth.

ICLEI Europe welcomes the EUTeens4Green initiative, as it supports sustainable, just, and inclusive transitions in coal regions, along with meaningful youth-led engagement projects. To learn more about our work in other youth engagement projects check out UPLIFT and Food Wave.
