The Local Sustainability Award 2025 is now open for applications! This new initiative aims to recognise and celebrate the most ambitious and innovative sustainability actions taken by cities, towns, and regions across Europe.

It is spearheaded by ICLEI Europe, in collaboration with the Bertelsmann Stiftung, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the City of Aalborg.

The Local Sustainability Award highlights projects that embody the core principles of the Aalborg Conditions, seeking to showcase forward-thinking initiatives that drive a sustainable, just, and climate-neutral future.

By applying for the Local Sustainability Award, you can:

• Raise your town, city or region's profile and put your most ambitious projects and ideas on the map
• Build new relationships and partnerships to boost the transition
• Benefit from expert advice and support of award partners
• Attend the award ceremony at the 12th European Urban Resilience Forum (EURESFO) in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) taking place from 25-27 June

How to Apply?

If your town, city, or region is leading the way in sustainability and deserves a place on the European stage, submit your application online by 30 April 2025.
