Given the immense benefits and potential of nature-based solutions, it is not surprising that there is a growing number of European Horizon 2020 (H2020) projects focusing on them. This requires some synergising to ensure that efforts are maximised, knowledge exchange is fostered, and overlap between projects is avoided.
NetworkNature, a new service in which ICLEI Europe is a partner, supports and synergises efforts of the nature-based solutions community. To this end, NetworkNature is spearheading EU Nature-based Solutions Task Forces, gathering the pioneers in the field together.
NetworkNature coordinates these six Task Forces to increase projects’ impacts with respect to mainstreaming nature-based solutions, while saving resources by capitalising on common areas of work. The goals of the Task Forces include increasing awareness of the multiple benefits of nature-based solutions, creating a strong evidence base for nature-based solutions on an EU level, and increasing partnerships for upscaling nature-based solutions. There are currently six Task Forces, consisting of H2020 project experts across topical fields:
- TF1: Data Management and EU Nature-based Solutions Knowledge Repository
- TF2: Nature-based Solutions Impact Evaluation Framework
- TF3: Governance, Business Models and Financial Mechanisms
- TF4: Nature-based Solutions Communicators
- TF5: Nature-based Solutions to Address Hydro-meteorological Risks
- TF6: Co-creation and Governance for Nature-based Solutions
