Foster energy communities for a fair energy transition in your city

ICLEI Europe works across projects and advocacy work to support tackling energy poverty and ensuring that vulnerable consumers are meaningfully engaged in energy transitions. Cities and public utilities now have another opportunity to move towards a clean energy transition by joining a "Community of Practice" to foster energy communities.

Fostering energy communities is a recognised method to make the energy transition socially fair and inclusive on a local level, leaving no one behind. As a people-oriented approach, energy communities encourage citizen-driven energy actions by allowing citizens to learn about energy efficiency measures and facilitating access to renewable energy consumption.

In its role as a consortium member of the Sun4All project, ICLEI Europe invites interested local public authorities and public utilities to become part of the new Sun4All Community of Practice. As a member, cities and public utilities will have the opportunity to accompany and learn from cities, including ICLEI Members Rome (Italy), Barcelona (Spain) and Almada (Portugal) as well as the community of communes Coeur de Savoie (France), which are currently working on implementing energy community concepts and energy efficiency measures at the local level.

To create first-hand learning experiences and knowledge exchange, members of this new Community of Practice will be given the opportunity to participate in study visits and be in direct contact with the Sun4All pilots.

Local public authorities and public utilities can apply now to become a member of the Sun4All Community of Practice.
