EU Cities for Fair and Ethical Trade award now accepting applications

The 2021 EU Cities for Fair and Ethical Trade award, which recognises and rewards European local authorities that promote fair, ethical and sustainable trade practices, has recently been launched and is now accepting applications.

The award, which is now in its second year, was launched by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade. It covers sustainable, fair and ethical trade between EU cities and non-EU markets, showcasing how EU cities set an example for a values-based trade agenda through their own policies and activities.

Local authorities with more than 20,000 inhabitants are invited to submit an application. Alongside increased visibility and recognition, the winning city will receive ITC technical support to implement an EU-funded development cooperation project in a developing country. The project provides an opportunity to increase cooperation with cities in developing countries in the area of sustainable, fair and ethical trade.
