The ICLEI network is growing stronger, bringing together cities and organizations from around the world to champion sustainability at the local level. We are delighted to introduce our latest members: Chisinau (Moldova), Fuchstal VG (Germany), Udine (Italy), and Pescara (Italy).
Chisinau (Moldova)
Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, is home to over 700,000 residents. The city has issued several key reports on the state of environmental and sustainable development and already embarked on a series of transformative projects focused on green urban infrastructure, waste management, and sustainable mobility.
Fuchstal VG (Germany)
Fuchstal VG, located in Bavaria, Germany, represents a group of municipalities that are pioneering renewable energy initiatives. Their project “Energiezukunft Fuchstal” integrates renewable sources and intelligent control technology, enabling surplus electricity and heat to be stored and reused efficiently. Fuchstal VG demonstrates how small municipalities can lead the change toward self-sufficiency.
Udine (Italy)
Udine, a medium-sized city in Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia region with just under 100,000 inhabitants, has embedded climate action into municipal governance. The city launched a revolving Climate Fund to finance energy‑efficiency upgrades in public buildings (e.g., LED retrofits, window insulation). Udine pairs this financial tool with long‑standing environmental commitments, to get a performance‑driven approach to sustainability.
Pescara (Italy)
Pescara, a coastal city on Italy’s Adriatic Sea with over 115,000 inhabitants, is taking bold steps toward sustainability. The city has launched projects to expand cycling infrastructure, improve energy efficiency, and reforest. By fostering partnerships between local government, businesses, and civil society, Pescara is driving a just and inclusive green transition.
We are excited to collaborate with these inspiring members as they join the ICLEI community!
