Applications are now open for two prestigious awards launched by the European Commission to honour a transformative built environment: the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prizes, and the NEB Boost for Small Municipalities awards. Both aim to foster sustainability, inclusivity, and creativity across Europe, while targeting different objectives and audience:
The NEB Prizes 2025 marks its fifth edition and recognises exemplary projects that embody the core values of the New European Bauhaus: sustainability, aesthetics, and togetherness. Projects and ideas from individuals, teams, and organisations can apply to this prizes in 2 different strands - NEB Champions and NEB Rising Stars - and in four different categories:
- Reconnecting with nature;
- Regaining a sense of belonging;
- Prioritising the places and people that need it the most;
- Shaping a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life-cycle thinking.
A novelty for 2025 is the introduction of a fifth category, with four specifically dedicated Affordable Housing Prizes. All these awards reflect the success of sustainable, just, and participatory transitions, the very ones that ICLEI and its members are promoting.
Meanwhile, the NEB Boost for Small Municipalities award offers targeted support to smaller communities to implement transformative, community-driven initiatives. This initiative provides municipalities with populations under 20,00 inhabitants with resources and recognition, enabling them to address local challenges while building more sustainable and vibrant places to live.
A total of 22 awards under the NEB Prizes 2025 and 20 awards under the NEB Boost for Small Municipalities are waiting for you. At stake are up to €30,000 and a communication package each. Applications are open to individuals, local authorities, and organisations across Europe.
Apply by 14 February 2025, 19:00 CET.
