The European Heritage Hub has selected 14 heritage projects across 11 neighbouring EU countries to receive approximately €250,000 under its Small Grants Scheme. This initiative, managed by Europa Nostra and co-funded by the ALIPH Foundation, supports civil society-led projects that address Europe’s green, digital, and social transformation, while promoting peace, stability, and reconciliation.
The projects, led by organisations in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo*, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine, aim to enhance environmental sustainability, promote digital innovation in heritage, and strengthen social cohesion. Despite limited funding allowing support for only 14 out of over 600 submissions, the selected initiatives underscore the critical role of heritage in fostering sustainable development and social inclusion.
The goals of the Small Grants Scheme align seamlessly with ICLEI Europe’s strategic focus on leveraging cultural heritage for sustainable urban development and social cohesion. These projects contribute to regional integration and stability, showcasing community-driven solutions for heritage preservation and transformation.
The European Heritage Hub pilot will run until April 2025, with aims to secure more funding to continue the Small Grants Scheme and support more heritage projects in EU neighbouring countries. For more information on the selected projects, visit the European Heritage Hub website.
