Apply now for the Intelligent Cities Challenge

ICLEI Members are encouraged to apply to the Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC), one of the EU’s most strategic city support programmes supporting a network of pan European cities in their twin green and digital transitions. The ICC is now starting its second phase and has a total duration of 24 months, running from June 2023 to May 2025.

Through the ICC, cities can:

  • Benefit from advisory services and a large expert network
  • Engage with a community of high-performing cities and world leaders
  • Develop Local Green Deals with their local businesses and citizens and advance the green transition

ICLEI is especially proud to have contributed to the ICC’s focus on developing Local Green Deals (LGDs) - a focus that is following the development and ICLEI-authorship of the ICC LGD Blueprint for action. The blueprint is the first and only guide existing for LGDs and has much in common with the methodology in the EU Cities-Mission.

ICLEI and the ICC consortium invite all European cities to apply and see this new phase as a twin approach to the EU Cities-Mission in localising the ambitions of the European Green Deal (cf. our briefing paper on their relationship). A clear focus will lie in developing and implementing LGDs with local business.

To learn more, a number of information sessions will provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions and learn more about how to make your application successful. These sessions will be information sessions held on 15 and 28 March 2023. In the meantime, applicants can consult the FAQs page for any questions or contact the helpdesk.

Register for all sessions as well as access full information and application guidelines on the ICC website.
