Mobility & Transport

With over 70% of EU citizens living in urban areas, urban mobility has become a major factor affecting quality of life. Yet traffic congestion, poor air quality, and inefficient transport systems persist across the continent.

Traffic and transport infrastructure impact hugely on the environment, health, social equality and economic development. At the same time, new mobility solutions represent the forefront of technological and social innovation. Adopting an integrated approach is therefore a ‘must’ for local governments.

ICLEI accompanies cities in citizen-centred urban planning that prioritises non-motorised transport and green mixed-use neighbourhoods, and in shaping the transition towards electric and shared mobility.
