Justice, Equity & Democracy

Sustainable urban development needs to be just, ensuring equitable access to our limited resources, and ‘leaving no one behind’. This is critical for a number of reasons, including to gain community support and acceptance. Energy transitions and efforts to reduce the consumption of natural resources must be governed and organised in a just way.

ICLEI Europe supports cities to integrate social equity and justice into their plans and policies, including through the implementation of Local Green Deals, and by leveraging their procurement of goods and services to contribute to socially responsible supply-chains.
