3rd Breakfast at Sustainability’s

What role for biofuels in sustainable urban mobility

12 November 2009
Brussels, Belgium- Stockholm Region representation

The third edition of Breakfast at Sustainability’s once again provided real food for thought in Brussels (Belgium). As part of a series of informal meetings on urban sustainable development organised by the ICLEI Brussels office, approximately 50 participants gathered to discuss the role of biofuels in sustainable urban mobility.

Participants heard from Ulf Hafseld of StatoilHydro ASA, a member of the Clean Energy Partnership, who reported on the latest developments of their hydrogen project. Also from the City of Stockholm (Sweden), Jonas Ericson gave an insight into the city’s successful clean vehicles policy.

As the host for the event, the representation of the Stockholm Region added a very special note to proceedings. To mark the 15th anniversary of the representation’s presence in Brussels, one tree was planted for each participant at Lake Victoria (Tanzania), as part of an initiative of the Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Co-operation. ICLEI has worked on the issue of biofuels for transport through the Biofuel Cities Partnership, a European project that ran until the end of December 2009.
