The main objective of this Implementation Guide is to support signatory Local Governments in responding to the requirements of the Aalborg Commitments. It provides a mechanism to enable Local Governments to get easy access to knowledge, resources and other tools they may need. This Guide works in parallel with what already exists, and thus creates synergies and links with existing guidance and tools, and covers any gaps. As a result, the Guide sets out the five steps of the Sustainability Cycle and provides support for implementing and setting appropriate targets for the Aalborg Commitments.
