RESCUE Project workshop

18 February 2014
Woking, United Kingdom

This workshop will look at meeting key challenges in the further development and implementation of district cooling through the use of low and zero carbon emitting sources, enabling local communities to reap the ensuing environmental and economic benefits. It is organised as part of the RESCUE (Renewable Smart Cooling for Urban Europe) project, and will take place on 18 February 2014 in Woking (United Kingdom).

The workshop will be one in a series to be delivered in the project’s target countries: Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Poland, United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. The workshops are aimed primarily at local political decision-makers who guide the climate and energy work and/or urban planning strategy of the municipality, and technical staff working in the district cooling systems, buildings and energy sectors.

District cooling is an environmentally optimised, energy efficient cooling solution, in which an infrastructure of pipes delivers cooling to the connected customers. Its benefits include saving energy (which contributes to EU energy efficiency targets), a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and lower electricity consumption.
