The City of Nantes (France) will welcome and organise the 10th edition of ECOCITY, the cross-disciplinary World Summit on Sustainable Cities, as part of the initiative "Nantes European Green Capital 2013".
ECOCITY summits are designed to facilitate exchange among local, regional and governmental decision-makers, researchers and civil society, bring together all disciplines on sustainable cities and enable citizens to play an active role.
ECOCITY 2013 will be a unique opportunity to organise dialogue between the bearers of a European urban development model and their counterparts in other continents.
One year after Rio + 20, ECOCITY 2013 will act as a platform to accelerate transition on a global scale, in partnership with the United Nations. Ambitious goals have been set for the event including the creation of an action-driven schedule for cities.
The event will be followed by the Summit of the Mexico City Pact Signatories on Saturday 28 September.
