To unlock collective actions toward sustainable lifestyles, 16 cities around the world, including ICLEI Member Grenoble (France), have launched the Climate Campaigners app. Join us to discover this global and innovative challenge-based approach!

As part of the Villes en Transition conference from 8-11 June in Grenoble, the CAMPAIGNers project, in which ICLEI Europe is a partner, is hosting a session titled “Can an app help us change climate change together? A dialogue on the Climate Campaigners experiment” on 9 June from 9:00-11:00 CEST.

The session will discuss the research foundation and the policy implications of the innovative approach elaborated by the CAMPAIGNers project to support people in adopting more sustainable lifestyles. A brief presentation of the Climate Campaigners app, along with an engagement moment to develop new tailor-made challenges, will follow. The session will explore three potentials of the app:

• Improved behavioural research: as a digital instrument for evidence-based decision-making/a citizen science approach
• Improved policymaking: creating a new relationship with citizens
• More sustainable behaviour: following the logic of a challenge-based approach

In the first part, participants will engage in a dialogue on the potential of a challenge-based goal-setting network approach to complement and amplify local governments’ climate mitigation policies. The second part of the session will be highly engaging for the audience. Participants will be asked to download the app and will be encouraged to develop new climate challenges tailored to their specific contexts and needs.

This interactive session will provide an opportunity for participants to actively contribute to the project and explore ways to promote sustainable lifestyles in their own communities.
