Workshop

Cities and citizens in the Energy Union

16 June 2015, 16:00 - 17:30
Brussels, Belgium

This workshop, organised by ICLEI Europe and Friends of the Earth, will discuss the role of local authorities and communities in shaping Europe’s energy future as participants in the market.

The event will be completely interactive, and will focus on how decentralised approaches can create regional-local value chains through supporting sustainable development and job creation. It will also address the topic of sustainable energy roll-out in Europe with a specific focus on concrete ideas and recommendations for cities and citizens.

A wide number of relevant stakeholders will be present to ensure multilateral and multi-level exchanges. These include: European, national, regional and local policy makers; local government networks and associations; rural communities; NGOs; cooperatives’ RES developers; business sector representatives; and financing institutions.
