During Green Week 2011, the City of Gothenburg and ICLEI Europe hosted a workshop on biogas, exploring this renewable and energy efficient option with and for local and regional governments.

The morning workshop had an impressive line-up of speakers and laid the ground for a lively discussion. Ian Shearer, Technical Project Officer supporting the European Cities for Climate Protection Campaign of ICLEI, shared highlights of the MAKE-IT-BE projects addressing integrated bio-energy partnerships. Guessing (Austria) and Gothenburg (Sweden) shared their approaches prior to an open discussion exploring energy interlinkages between rural and urban areas. Biogas as vehicle fuel was the central topic.
