Innovating Cities: Cultural Heritage in Action

ROCK project final conference and Business Matching event

14 - 15 May 2020
Bologna, Italy

Over the past three years, ten European cities including ICLEI Members Bologna (Italy) and Lisbon (Portugal), alongside Athens, Cluj-Napoca, Eindhoven, Liverpool, Lyon, Skopje, Turin, and Vilnius, have been developing innovative solutions that demonstrate how cultural heritage can be the driving force behind urban sustainability.

This work has been conducted through the ROCK project, whose project partners – themselves service providers and knowledge brokers – have supported cities to test and advance tools and approaches aimed at shaping sustainable, heritage-led urban futures.

At this final project conference, cities will share their results, lessons learnt, and best practices. A subsequent business matching event will act as a forum for promoting innovative solutions for historic urban centres.

The conference and business matching event will bring together local governments, businesses, policy makers, and researchers looking for new ways in which cultural heritage can contribute to the regeneration, sustainable development, and economic growth of an entire city. Event participants will take a close look at the solutions implemented by ROCK partners across three domains:

  • Social innovation
  • Technological innovation
  • Organisational innovation

ICLEI Europe, a ROCK project partner, is coordinating the organisation of the conference.

Mark the date on your calendars and stay tuned for more information, including an event programme. Registration will open in January 2020 here.
