2 - 3 September 2020, 08:00 - 18:00
Brno, Czech Republic- Brno Exhibition Centre & online

The URBIS Smart City Fair in Brno (Czechia) will, in 2020, host the General Assembly of the Marketplace of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC), which will take place both online and in Brno as a hybrid event.

Despite many interesting recent developments, especially around smart ICT solutions and knowledge hubs (including universities), Central-Eastern European (CEE) municipalities, businesses and researchers are still underrepresented in the Smart City field and have lower participation rates in the Horizon 2020 Smart City Lighthouse Projects.

You can register for online participation in the General Assembly here.

This year's General Assembly will feature high level speakers putting a spotlight on the challenges and opportunities facing cities following the COVID-19 experience, discussing European efforts to deliver a sustainable urban transition and continuing a dialogue on the upscaling and replication of Smart City solutions. There will also be unique and interactive sessions to support cities and projects working to boost their Smart City implementation, focusing on issues such as citizen engagement, business models, financing, the role of smart energy systems and more.

The events of the EIP-SCC provide opportunities for any city with plans to implement smart and sustainable solutions to connect with investors, experts and other stakeholders in the European smart city community. An earlier Matchmaking event successfully connected cities with potential investors who can help local governments take smart solutions forward.

The EIP-SCC Marketplace is an initiative of the European Commission, as part of its programme about Smart Cities. As of September 2019, the EIP-SCC Marketplace is run by a consortium including ICLEI Europe.
