Youth engagement is critical to advancing Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) and creating sustainable, resilient communities. Involving young people in the design, implementation, and stewardship of NbS not only raises environmental awareness but also empowers them to tackle climate challenges. Education plays a key role in this, especially when it fosters youth inclusion and community ownership of nature-based projects.
To support these goals, ICLEI Europe and the NBS EduWORLD project are hosting the final edition of the NBS EduCommunity Workshop: Shaping the Future of Sustainability Learning on 18 February 2025 from 14:00 to 16:00 CET, online. During this event, ICLEI Europe's experts in Biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions will present the Youth Inclusion Toolkit, a valuable resource developed to enhance youth participation in NbS initiatives. The toolkit offers practical strategies for local authorities, educators, and NbS practitioners to actively involve young people in shaping sustainable communities.
Local governments, in particular, play a crucial role in the successful implementation of NbS. This workshop offers them insights into best practices for youth engagement and the opportunity to contribute to the Youth Inclusion and Local Authorities Kit and policy recommendations for EU policymakers. Their participation ensures local voices are part of shaping future EU policies on NbS education. This public event is also essential for educators, NbS practitioners, NGOs, policymakers, and others committed to advancing youth inclusion and community-driven NbS education.
Register now to join this important conversation and help shape the future of sustainability learning in Europe.
