The building sector accounts for a significant percentage of total global energy-related CO2 emissions. Competitive solutions must be found to revolutionise energy efficiency and management in buildings, and 'big data' has the potential to contribute to that search.
This first MATRYCS workshop will provide an overview of how big data can be used to elevate building energy management. In this interactive session, moderated by Roman Mendle (ICLEI Europe), the following topics will be addressed:
- A general MATRYCS project overview, by Pasquale Andriani (ENG)
- The technological perspective behind the use of big data, by Dario Pellegrino (ENG)
- An overview of data-driven real-life demonstrations, by Gema Hernández Moral (CARTIF)
- A deep-dive into two pilots planned in the context of MATRYCS, focusing on the impact of big data at the district and regional building levels, by Jaime Gómez Tribiño (VEOLIA) & Alfredo Cadórniga Pedrosa (EREN)

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, 22 June at 9:30 CEST.
