Teaming up for climate action one last time with the Compete4SECAP project

3 November 2020, 09:00 - 13:00

On Tuesday 3 November 2020, the Compete4SECAP project will hold its final event and award winners of the municipal energy saving competition held in eight European countries.

In 2019, 31 local authorities from Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia and Spain took part in an energy-saving competition – in order to motivate building users to save energy at work or school, and to support implementation of Energy Management Systems. Their performance was rewarded across three different categories:

  1. Highest Energy Savings – Building level
  2. Success in implementing the Energy Management System – Municipal level
  3. Best Country – Country level

A total of 92 buildings took part. While the highest energy savings in buildings have already been announced, the results of Categories 2 and 3 are coming soon! We’re excited to find out who was most successful at implementing their Energy Management System, and which country did the best overall to meet the objectives of the Compete4SECAP project!

All winners will be announced at the final EU conference: ‘Team up for climate action! Improving municipal energy management and adapting to climate change’ to be held online on Tuesday 3 November 2020. Representatives from cities in Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia and Spain will share their experience on the benefits of transforming energy management practices.

Join online to hear about:

  • How to develop and implement an Energy Management System;
  • The do’s and don’ts of running a creative and inspiring energy-saving campaign;
  • How to better integrate action on climate mitigation with adapting to the effects of climate change, in the context of developing a Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan as supported by the Covenant of Mayors.
