The fourth annual conference for the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission is set to take place in Vilnius (Lithuania) from 6-8 May 2025. An additional political day is scheduled for 6 May, providing extended opportunities for high-level discussions.
This conference, organised by ICLEI Europe alongside Mission partner organisations, offers a unique platform for political representatives and practitioners from the Mission Cities, NetZeroCities (the Mission platform), high-level EU representatives, a wide range of stakeholders, the financial community, and private sector representatives to come together in person. It is an invaluable opportunity to share experiences and insights, fostering collaboration and innovation on cities' paths to climate neutrality.
The 2025 conference is especially significant as it marks the halfway point towards the 2030 climate neutrality goal. This milestone event will review the progress made so far and outline the remaining steps necessary to achieve the Mission's targets. The conference aims to create a structured space for cities to exchange knowledge and experiences, update participants on new and upcoming initiatives within the Mission and the Mission Platform, including NetZeroCities, and facilitate in-depth discussions on high-priority challenges.
Additionally, the conference will focus on enhancing cities' capacity and capability to achieve the Mission's goals. It will provide numerous opportunities for political leaders to connect and network, including photo opportunities, thereby strengthening the collaborative spirit needed to drive forward the journey to climate neutrality.
The EU Cities Mission conferences have become crucial for fostering exchange and collaboration among the Mission Cities on their journey to climate neutrality. The 2025 flagship edition of the Mission Conference will be a significant milestone, bringing together key players to address the priorities and challenges cities face in their quest for climate neutrality.
