Smart Cities Information System (SCIS) final conference

Empowering smart solutions for better cities

2 - 3 October 2017
Budapest, Hungary

ICLEI will be present at the Smart Cities Information System (SCIS) final conference: "Empowering smart solutions for better cities", which will take place in Budapest (Hungary) from 2 - 3 October. The conference will provide a chance to meet with creative thinkers and decision-makers in urban planning, sustainable energy, mobility, ICT, smart business models, and user-centric innovation. One of the event’s primary objectives is to encourage the replication of solutions, good practices, and lessons learned among cities and businesses to drive forward a smart and sustainable vision of Europe.

Visit the ICLEI stand to learn more about our work on smart cities, and ICLEI’s involvement in two Horizon 2020 lighthouse projects. Since 2015, the GrowSmarter project, with lighthouse cities Stockholm (Sweden), Cologne (Germany), and Barcelona (Spain), is implementing a range of smart technologies in energy, infrastructure and transport.

Launched in November 2016, the RUGGEDISED project aims to test 32 smart solutions in three smart districts in Rotterdam (Netherlands), Glasgow (United Kingdom) and Umeå (Sweden). Three follower cities – Brno (Czech Republic), Parma (Italy), and Gdansk (Poland) - will actively track the development of these innovative solutions to learn from the experiences of the lighthouse cities.

Working on the replication, communication and dissemination of these smart city projects, ICLEI organises capacity building events, facilitates knowledge-exchange between cities and provides learning tools on a combination of topics related to smart solutions: energy efficiency, ICT, and mobility.
