The Ecocity World Summit 2015 (ECWS) will take place from 11 - 13 October in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). This is the first time that the conference has been hosted in the Middle East, and this year's edition has the theme: 'Ecocities in Challenging Environments'.

The ECWS series is the first and is now the longest running conference for ecological city design, development and functioning in the world. Sustainable urban pioneer Richard Register convened the first Ecocity World Summit in Berkeley, California in 1990.

The ECWS is convened approximately every two years in a different host city around the world to facilitate the attendance of a wide diversity of thinkers and address diverse local issues. It focuses on key actions cities and citizens can take to rebuild our human habitat in balance with living system.

Due to ICLEI's partnership with the conference, ICLEI members can register to attend at a special reduced rate of $400.
