The CIVITAS Forum 2019, Europe's top sustainable urban mobility conference, is taking place from 2-4 October in Graz (Austria). The event marks the 17th edition of the conference series and will gather the leading figures in the field from across the continent and beyond.

This year marks a homecoming for the conference, as the very first Forum took place in Austria's second city in 2003. Yet mobility never stands still. Like in many cities in Europe, the situation in Graz is very different today than it was 16 years ago.

How and why have things changed since the first Forum? What role has CIVITAS played in this? What must be done to make sure that the shift towards sustainable, safe and connected mobility continues?

To examine these vital questions, the CIVITAS Forum 2019 is going 'back to the future' to look at the interplay between new technology and classic mobility solutions in the present day. With cities turning to people-centric planning and reclaiming public space, the importance of two legs and wheels is being rediscovered.

Hundreds of the most creative mobility minds – including city representatives, practitioners, policymakers, and academics – will debate this and other burning sustainable mobility topics. Diverse thematic workshops and sessions will provide the perfect fora for this and showcase the outstanding work happening within the CIVITAS Initiative.

In addition, the Forum will demonstrate and give participants hands-on experiences with the pioneering solutions driving Europe's shift towards cleaner, better transport. Site visits will showcase those solutions in host city, Graz.
