Webinar on Socially Responsible Public Procurement: “WeBuySocialEU, and You?”

On 11 February (14:30 – 15:30 CET) ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability will organise the webinar ‘WeBuySocialEU, and You?’. The webinar will highlight good practice cases from the EC report "Making Socially Responsible Public Procurement. 71 Good Practice cases", showcasing the diverse ways in which SRPP can make a social impact.

Public authorities can engage in socially-responsible public procurement by buying ethical products and services, and by using public tenders to create job opportunities, decent work, social and professional inclusion and better conditions for disabled and disadvantaged people.

- Michel Millares - social enterrpise GECCO, How can SRPP social and environmental benefits for social enterprises and their activites? Gecco and the municaplity of Lille developed a partnershop for the production of biodiesel from used food oils.
Victor Torrents - Catalan Association of Municipalities, using procurement to strengthen workers' rights in the electronics supply chains and to make supply chains more ethical and transparent.
- Cynthia van der Roest, City of Wageningen, Incorporating social returin in public contracts by employing people at a distance from the labor market.
