Leveraging Fair Trade for circular food systems: what can business and cities do?

17 September 2024, 10:30 - 12:00
Cape Town, South Africa

Join ICLEI Europe and the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) at the International Fair Trade Summit 2024 for an exciting session titled "Leveraging Fair Trade for circular food systems: what can business and cities do?". The session, organised in the framework of the AfriFOODlinks project, will take place on 17 September 2024, from 10:30 to 12:00 CET, both online and in-person in Cape Town (South Africa).

Gathering representatives from fair trade and circular businesses, cities, local incubators and civil society, this session will dive into the synergies between fair trade and circularity and the benefits of integrating both approaches - for both businesses and local governments. After assessing existing challenges, the event will showcase successful examples of collaboration and will seek to explore how cities can support businesses in applying circular or fair trade principles, with a focus on women and youth.

This event is open to all for virtual participation and to attendees of the International Fair Trade Summit for in-person participation. For more information and registration details, please visit the official event page.

The International Fair Trade Summit, running from 17-20 September 2024, will gather leaders, practitioners, and advocates, inviting them to collaborate on fair trade practices. This is a unique opportunity for participants to engage in enlightening discussions, exchange ideas, and forge partnerships shaping the future of fair trade. It will be followed by the International Fair Trade Towns Conference, set to take place from 20 to 22 September 2024 in Drakenstein, South Africa.
