A comic strip calls for climate action

As we work to create a sustainable future, sometimes we need inspiration to see what it could look like first. The English version of "Emma's Destiny" has just been released, a comic strip aimed at raising awareness about climate issues and proposing solutions for a sustainable future. Produced during the summer of 2022, amidst extreme weather events like heat waves and droughts, "Emma's Destiny" owes much to the dedication of the INES - Institut National de l'Energie Solaire and all partners involved in its creation.

Set in 2065, the comic strip offers a positive portrayal of a society that has successfully tackled climate change challenges. It is a story suitable for readers of all ages, designed to inspire and engage. In addition to the narrative, "Emma's Destiny" includes a technical dossier packed with practical ways individuals can contribute to mitigating climate change. Whether it's through community initiatives or policy advocacy, readers are encouraged to take action.

“Emma’s Destiny” was created within the scope of the Sun4All project, of which ICLEI is a partner. Sun4All focuses on researching and innovating to make solar photovoltaic energy accessible to households facing energy poverty. The project is currently being piloted in ICLEI Members Almada (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain), Rome (Italy), and the Community of Coeur de Savoie (France). ICLEI Europe plays a crucial role in supporting the transferability and upscaling of the Sun4All programme while ensuring widespread dissemination of its results. This involves contributing to policy and good practice development on energy poverty, innovative finance, and public policy evaluation across Europe, as well as engaging in strategic platforms such as the EU Covenant of Mayors and the Energy Poverty Observatory to maximise the impact of the project.
