Applications open for the European Entrepreneurial Region Award

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has launched the next edition of the European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) Award: EER Award 2021.

The theme of this year’s EER Award is “Entrepreneurship for a green and sustainable future.”

Are you a European city or region with a sustainable entrepreneurial strategy? Do you want to be recognised for this cutting-edge work? Then be sure to apply – the application is open to all European cities and regions, and applications must be submitted by 31 March 2020.

Each year, the CoR awards the EER label to up to three cities or regions with outstanding strategies that support small- and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, and scale-ups. The winners from all years network with one another to exchange best practices, further bolster their efforts, and partner on European projects.

This is the first year that the call for applications is tied to a specific theme. The jury may also award non-thematic EER labels in this call.

Previous winners have included ICLEI Members Helsinki (Finland) for the EER Award 2012, Lisbon (Portugal) for 2015, Glasgow (United Kingdom) for 2016, and Gothenburg (Sweden) won an EER Award 2020.
