COP26: the power of local voices

This November, the countries of the world will come together in ICLEI Member Glasgow (UK) for climate change negotiations held under the banner of “COP26” – the 26th meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Previous COPs have led to landmark agreements, such as the Kyoto Accord and Paris Agreement.

This is a critical moment in time to address the climate crisis. The recent report Climate Change 2021: the Physical Science Basis is one of many ‘wake up calls’ that demands urgent, ambitious, and immediate action.

ICLEI is the focal point for the Local Governments and Municipal Authorities (LGMA) Constituency, which represents local and regional governments at the UNFCCC. This representation at the COPs recognises that climate action cannot be effective without meaningful partnership among all levels of government.

ICLEI Europe is committed to bringing local European voices directly to COP26. Browse the list below for a list of all the ways you can connect with us at COP26 Pavilions.
