The Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy are inviting cities to apply for the Covenant Cities in the Spotlight award, with the application deadline set to close 15 September 2018.

The award, which is now in its tenth year, rewards the local energy and climate action efforts made by the signatories of the Covenant of Mayors, with awards handed out in three categories: small-sized signatory (less than 10,000 inhabitants), medium-sized signatory (10,000- 250,000 inhabitants) and large-sized signatory (more than 250,000 inhabitants).

The award is open to all Covenant of Mayors signatories, including those committed to the 2020 mitigation target and those committed to the 2030 mitigation and adaptation objectives.

Shortlisted applications will be analysed and evaluated by the European Commission and the winners will be announced during the European Week of Regions and Cities 2018.
