European Mobility Week launches 2019 Best Practice Guide

The 2019 Best Practice Guide for EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK has been released. The document aims to promote best practice in European cities and towns, drawing examples from a selection of high-performing European cities. Included amongst the good practice examples are schemes from ICLEI Members Nijmegen (The Netherlands), Dresden (Germany), Torres Vedras and Lisbon (Potugal).

Taking place from 16-22 September, EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is an annual campaign which seeks to improve public health and quality of life through promoting clean mobility and sustainable urban transport.

This year’s campaign puts the spotlight on safe walking and cycling and the benefits it can have for our health, environment, and bank balance. The 2019 theme is represented by the slogan Walk with us!

Towns and cities can register their participation online, selecting which of the three options – holding a week of activities focused on sustainable mobility, implementing one or more permanent transport measures, or holding a ‘Car-Free-Day’ – they will be carrying out to celebrate the week.

Over 2,400 cities have already registered to take part in EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK and registration is still open.
