ICLEI projects team up to promote innovative sustainable energy planning

Every year, the Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum – Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place showcases successful projects working on financing climate adaptation, energy efficiency, clean mobility and energy planning, as well as initiatives working across Europe to facilitate a market for climate and sustainable energy finance. On 18-19 February, two Horizon 2020 projects for which ICLEI is a partner – THERMOS and C-Track 50 – will be part of this year’s event in ICLEI Member Brussels (Belgium), to present their work on innovative sustainable energy planning.

The two projects, involving, amongst others, ICLEI Members Alba Iulia (Romania), Augsburg, Berlin, Bonn, Ludwigsburg and Mannheim (Germany), Cascais (Portugal), and Warsaw (Poland), have developed viable tools and comprehensive policy recommendations to support local, regional and national stakeholders and public energy authorities in developing projects to promote the local energy transition.

The THERMOS open-source energy planning software, and the C-Track 50 recommendations on how to improve multi-level governance collaboration between stakeholders at all levels horizontally and vertically, will be presented to public authorities, as well as to stakeholders from business and financial institutions from across Europe during the innovative sustainable energy planning breakout session. Both tools aim to facilitate the transition towards the goal of carbon neutrality by 2030 or 2050.

The Covenant of Mayors Investment Forum – Energy Efficiency Finance Market Place, the biggest event of its kind in Europe, is organised by the European Commission's Directorates-General for Energy and Climate Action and EASME, together with the Covenant of Mayors.
